In celebration of Valentine’s Day, TFP is offering 20% off all paid subscriptions, with one condition: You read the E.E. Cummings poem below and share it with someone you love. It’s a favorite of mine, and one—I confess—I’ve recited far too many times at far too many weddings. Yet thanks to Cummings genius (and his immortal heart), the poem never fails to move the bride, groom, and the entire room. It reminds us of the omnipresence of love even when we are away from our loved ones. As Cummings writes to his lover in the poem, “i fear no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet).” In these trying times, that’s a line worth repeating again and again, quietly, to ourselves, no matter where we may be. It should be noted that Cummings was not only famous for his love poems—and his early erotic poems—but also for his disregard for the rules of punctuation. Or any rules really, which might explain why his love was so boundless.

Happy Valentine’s Day
to you and yours,
MJ
